You know what this 30 day project is? It's alchemy. I am witnessing changes in myself AND in my world around me during this time that is kind of blowing me away 🤣 and I'm already excited to do another 30 day painting challenge of some kind again... after a break when this one is done. Haha.
What is Alchemy? I described it this way for my Language of Heart Alchemy oracle card deck, "What is Alchemy? It can be uncomfortable but necessary work. Do you have the willingness to make changes and hold space for the discomfort that can make itself known? Alchemy is a creative process of transformation which occurs by something going "through" it. Whatever the thing was to begin with, alchemy creates a change, and the outcome will be new and different."
Today's portrait is inspired by a recent painting from a favorite artist of mine, Autumn Skye. You can go look her up to see, but here are her words for today, and I can't say it any better.
Today I am Kintsugi, and filling in the cracks with gold. I'm blowing you a kiss... and giving myself one too. Happy Valentine's Day! 💖
Sounds for the day: The Man Behind C, Make You Mine
"We are healing together. The told and retold stories, tender wounds, ancient scars, fragmented parts of our being; these can all be loved back into wholeness. Like the Japanese pottery technique of Kintsugi, when we not only accept the broken pieces of ourselves and each other we can turn them to gold. It can actually be stronger where we have been repaired, and something new and beautiful created by our care and honoring. All of the experiences, the loves, losses, hurts, hopes, betrayals, grief, faith, have taught us and brought us to where we are now. It has all shaped our uniqueness and flawed perfection. Most often it is our vulnerable open hearted relationships that hurt us, and likewise it is most often there where we find our healing. We are called on now and in every moment to honor our path and our past with gratitude and reflection. Every relationship, every connection, every heartbreak, every new layer of healing and hurt and healing again. Even the deepest wounds can be loved, the most tender places in us held in care for our selves and each other, and in time repaired and made beautiful by our compassion. This is the transmutation into gold. Pain into love. This is the ebb and flow of love and loss and our inevitable return to love again." —Autumn Skye
