Day 7: 30 Days of Self Portraits

What the hell is this?

Image: Self Portrait, Yarka Sauce and pastel pencils on black paper

What the hell is this? I wasn't in the mood to do a self-portrait today, and it shows. I also took a picture of myself that just seemed to be all forehead! I like starting from a black piece of paper and adding the light, but it just wasn't working today. I grabbed this OLD box of Yarka (Russian brand of paints and chalks I've had long time and love) chalks called "sauce" and was going to stick with the neutral tones of it, but then a few colored pastel pencils snuck in there.

As a recovering perfectionist, here it is. It's not perfect, and I don't care. It is what it is, and I'm posting it for all to see. Hooray. Here's my continuing lesson in not beating myself up for "not being perfect," and I'm kinda proud of myself 🤣I learned what trying to find perfection was a number of years ago... it's self abuse.

#Chiron is proud of me too... because my "work" over the past few years has really been a lot about that. To find and get into my own flow, NOT someone else's, and when it's not happening, I'm allowed to take a break and chill. This empath is going to find her own way again after falling in the rabbit hole of WTF.

I think it's time to "Let Myself Go" and have a nap ❤️
